The Mandalorian and Grogu
Greetings, Bounty Hunters and Core Worlders! This is your favorite sector correspondent reporting from the heart of the Outer Rim (or, you know, my very tech-heavy desk).
If you’ve been scanning the Holonet for the return of our favorite silver-clad dad and his green, frog-munching apprentice, the wait is almost over—but the destination has changed! Grab your beskar and strap into your starship; here is everything we know about the next chapter of The Mandalorian.
🎬 The Big News: The Big Screen Debut
Forget the small screen for a moment—Din Djarin and Grogu are going Hollywood. Instead of a traditional Season 4 launching first, Lucasfilm has pivoted to a feature film titled “The Mandalorian & Grogu.”
Official Release Date: May 22, 2026
The Vibe: Director Jon Favreau has promised that while the show always felt cinematic, they’ve “upped the game” for IMAX. Expect high-octane dogfights, AT-ATs tumbling off mountains, and the return of some classic Clone Wars bounty hunters (rumor has it Embo might be making an appearance!).
The Cast: Pedro Pascal is confirmed to return as the voice (and sometimes the face!) of Din Djarin. We’re also getting sci-fi royalty with Sigourney Weaver joining the cast as Colonel Ward.
📺 What About Season 4?
This is where the transmissions get a bit fuzzy. While Jon Favreau famously finished writing the scripts for Season 4 before the movie was announced, the current plan is for the film to take center stage.
Status: “In development,” but likely on hold. Some insiders suggest that the movie replaces Season 4, while others believe the film’s success will dictate if we return to the serialized format on Disney+.
The “Mando-Verse” Connection: This film is intended to be the first of a new slate of Star Wars movies that will eventually culminate in a massive crossover event directed by Dave Filoni.
